Accreditations

GCVSI Accreditations

The GCVSI has achieved a full consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Commission and accredited with the United Nations Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing (UNOEWGA) under the office of the UN General Assembly president. In addition, GCVSI is a member of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP), African Palliative Care Association (APCA), Stakeholders Group on Ageing Africa (SGA Africa), the organization is the coordinating office of the Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN), southeast zone, member of Geriatric Association of Nigeria (GAN), member Gerontology Association of Nigeria (GERAN).  

GCVSI is a recipient of numerous commendation and recognition awards from different humanitarian bodies in appreciation and recognition of GCVSI’s contribution to humanitarian cum social sector development. 

Programs

Strategic Programs for 2022-2025

GCVSI is developing an accreditation scheme that promotes quality assurance, competence, and mobility in Health and social inclusion (UHC) attainment, promotion, practice, education, and training.

  1. Over the period 2023 – 2025, GCVSI plans to encourage uptake of Universal Health Coverage scheme in Imo State beginning with the establishment of Geriatric Drug Bank (GDB) to improve access to medications for chronically ill Older Patients.
  2. Capacity building training and development of Community Health Workers (CHW) in various communities to anchor its Universal Health Coverage agenda in rural communities in collaboration with the Government and other relevant stakeholders.
