Capacity Building & Womenomics
In our steadfast commitment to eradicating the marginalization of women resulting from cultural hegemony, GCVSI has launched a comprehensive Capacity Building Service. This initiative is designed to uplift women, particularly those growing older in poverty, by equipping them with the skills and resources necessary for self-sufficiency.
- Empowering Through Training Programs:
GCVSI recognizes that empowerment begins with education. Our training programs are meticulously crafted to provide women with practical skills and knowledge. From vocational training to entrepreneurial workshops, we aim to enhance their capabilities, enabling them to break free from the chains of cultural constraints and pursue independent livelihoods.
- Entrepreneurial Development Initiatives:
To foster economic independence, GCVSI invests in entrepreneurial development initiatives. Through mentorship programs, business management training, and financial literacy workshops, we empower women to start and grow their ventures. By nurturing entrepreneurship, we aim to create a pathway for sustained financial stability and resilience.
- Collaborative Partnerships for Skill Enhancement:
GCVSI understands the power of collaboration. We forge partnerships with educational institutions, industry experts, and fellow NGOs to expand the range of skills offered in our capacity-building programs. This collaborative approach ensures that women receive training that aligns with market demands, enhancing their employability and business acumen.
- Mentoring and Peer Support Networks:
GCVSI recognizes the importance of emotional support in the journey towards empowerment. Our capacity-building service incorporates mentoring programs and the establishment of peer support networks. By connecting women with mentors and like-minded individuals, we create a community that fosters encouragement, shared experiences, and collective growth.
- Advocacy for Gender Equality:
GCVSI actively engages in advocacy efforts to promote gender equality and challenge cultural hegemony. Through campaigns, workshops, and collaborations with like-minded organizations, we aim to shift societal norms and create an environment where women are seen as equal contributors to development, breaking the chains of marginalization.
- Tailored Programs for Specialized Skills:
GCVSI understands the diversity of talents and aspirations within the women we serve. Our capacity-building service includes tailored programs for specialized skills, catering to individual interests and aptitudes. Whether in arts and crafts, technology, or traditional crafts, we strive to nurture and harness the unique talents of each woman, ensuring a personalized and effective learning experience.
For instance, when the GCVSI team visited Mrs. Elisha, with humility and grace, she expressed a need that resonated deeply within us. You see, grinding clay by hand had been an arduous task, consuming both time and physical energy. So, she requested a grinding machine which was not just a convenience but a necessity to sustain her art and ease the burden on her ageing hands.
Understanding the profound impact this support could have, the GCVSI swiftly fulfilled her request, providing the grinding machine. The gratitude in Mrs. Elisha’s eyes mirrored the weight lifted off her shoulders as she beheld this new tool, an emblem of efficiency and a promise of continued creation. The best part is that Mrs. Elisha has involved many women in learning pottery so that they can build the capacity to fend for themselves and lead better lives.
Through the GCVSI Capacity Building Service for Women, we aspire not only to break the cycle of poverty but to empower women to lead fulfilling and dignified lives. By providing the tools for self-sufficiency, fostering a sense of community, and challenging cultural norms, we aim to create a lasting impact on the lives of women, enabling them to age with resilience and independence.
